Easter Weekend

On Easter weekend, my friend, Kylie, and her daughters visited on Friday and Saturday. We took the kids to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on Saturday morning. Despite the wind, we had alot of fun!

Danika and Owen on a mountain lion...

Wyatt's favorite part was the chickens in the petting zoo. He'll be happy when his cast is off, so he can explore the zoo a little easier on foot! The kids got to feed millet to the birds...

After Kylie left, we decorated eggs. Owen had a blast with that! Here he is, posing with all his supplies...

The Easter bunny came on Sunday morning. Owen and Wyatt found eggs and got new toys for the sand box. They were both very excited! Ben, Brenda, Amelia, Cavan, Shep, and Linda visited on Sunday morning, but we somehow forgot to take pictures of that!

The Highs and Lows of Spring Break 2010

For the most part, Spring Break was wonderful this year. We visited Becky, Devin, Logan and Laila in Los Alamos, NM. Owen and Logan played together like never before. They would play in Logan's room for hours on end (some sort of rocket ship/dinosaur hybrid game). They have become great little buddies.
We visited Bandelier National Monument. It was so much fun and really perfect for families with kids.
Josh, Devin, Logan, and Owen looking out of a cave dwelling.

Wyatt was a big fan of the ladders.
Owen and Laila were big fans of a little maze area.

Laila liked the view from the caves, too.

The end of a succesful outing...

Despite all the pictures of Bandelier, we mostly hung out at Becky and Devin's house and enjoyed their park, their backyard, and all their toys. A typical morning at the Close house... On our last morning at Becky and Devin's, Bree and Wyatt fell down the stairs. Wyatt fractured his leg. Poor baby! First, our pediatrician put the leg in a splint....good thing it doesn't prevent him from riding his horse! He looks in good spirits in this picture, but he's been pretty grumpy at times. He needs lots of cuddles and entertaining, but he's getting a little better every day.

Two days later, he got a cast. He'll wear this for about 3 1/2 weeks.

He's already learning to get around. He's super fast at crawling already and is already learning to take several steps. I have a feeling that he'll be pretty good at getting around by the time the cast comes off.

Happy 4th Birthday, Owen!!

Owen turned 4 this weekend and celebrated with snake party.
We played pin-the-tongue-on-the snake with this poster. Our friend, Aiden, got it in the right place on the first try!!

Owen and his friends, right before we cut the cake.

\
Owen got his first real bike from us. It was too cold and rainy to ride it, but he gave it a try inside. He announced that he's going to learn to ride it outside on St. Patrick's Day.

Grammy, Pop, Nana, and Papa came over for pizza on Sunday night and Owen got alot of building supplies. He loves to build things!

Thanks for helping us celebrate!!

He's on the move!!

This weekend, Wyatt started to really get the hang of walking...

February 2010

What a cold and dreary month! We haven't been able to get outside much, but Owen has been passing the time by building, building and building!Wyatt mostly wanders around, getting into things and being cute.

The most notable development this month has been that Wyatt is trying to walk. This video was taken on February 21. Wyatt has been getting better and better at walking each day. He has taken up to 10 steps at a time and is getting more confident. I think he'll be really happy when he starts walking!

Happy 1st Birthday, Wyatt!

Wyatt turned 1 on January 14th. We celebrated at home with a big cookie and some presents. We had a hard time convincing Wyatt that opening presents was more fun than crawling up the stairs, but we finally got him interested! Aunt Lauren and Uncle Jerod sent a cool pull-toy...and we got Wyatt a water table. It's a little cold for water right now, so we filled it with balls and put it in the basement. It's a big hit!The weekend after his birthday, we celebrated again with the grandparents, a cake, and more presents...what a lucky boy!

Wyatt got some super fun cars from Nana and Papa....and a tunnel from Grammy and Pop.
It was a beautiful day, so Owen and Wyatt spend some time playing outside in their cowboy shirts (thanks Grandmomma and Poppa!).

The birthday boy...has there ever been a cuter little dude?

A fun-filled December

Lauren visited at the beginning of our Christmas break. Owen and Lauren decorated Christmas cookies... After Lauren's visit, we got a little snowstorm. It was perfect for sledding and playing in the backyard.

We officially started our "Hobgood Christmas" on Christmas Eve. Ben, Brenda, Amelia and Cavan stayed with us. Here are the littlest Hobgood boys (Cavan - 6 months, Wyatt - 11 months)...

After Santa arrived on Christmas morning, we headed to Pueblo to open presents. Owen was opening his present from Wyatt in this picture...

Owen and Devin worked on a Lego creation....

Owen decked Wyatt out in 6 sets of antlers. Wyatt didn't seem to mind!
Owen, Logan, and Wyatt were introduced to the world of Nintendo Wii and Super Mario Kart. Owen and Logan were driving, Wyatt is the happy spectator.

We managed to fit in a trip to the Pueblo Zoo.

On December 30th, we celebrated Christmas with the Belteaus. Wyatt loves riding his new rocking horse!

Owen was amazed by a toy space shuttle.

He's very good about sharing it with his little brother.

We're now resting, recovering from a cold, and gearing up for the next big occasion...Wyatt's first birthday on January 14th!
