Thanksgiving 2010
We spent Thanksgiving this year with the Hobgood family in Pueblo and in Colorado Springs. The kids ended up having a reading extravaganza one night at our house.
Owen and Logan discovered a way to share the trike at Nana's house. They had so much fun!

Happy Halloween!
We had a week of fun Halloween activities this year. It all started with Owen's preschool party on Wednesday. Owen had so much fun seeing all of his friends dressed up!
On Friday, we went to the zoo with our friends Lindsay, Aiden and Lauren. It was one of those beautiful Colorado days and the kids had a blast!

We were invited to a party put on by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on Saturday. The boys were super excited to have their costumes on.

And the party was so much fun! There were games for the kids to play, lots of fun prizes (non-candy) and delicious low-carb pizza. Owen was ecstatic to see a "real" Storm Trooper and we were happy to meet other families of diabetic kiddos.

Fall Fun
In early October, Brenda, Amelia and Cavan stayed with us for a weekend, while the dads went hunting. We enjoyed a beautiful hike and picnic at Fountain Creek Nature Center.
The kids mostly loved throwing sticks in the stream and playing in the dirt.
Owen's preschool went on a trip to pick pumpkins at Venetucci Farms in Fountain. Wyatt and I joined them. It was really fun to see Owen with his class.
We went on a family hike at Bear Creek Nature Center to enjoy the changing colors. Owen's class pet, Biscuit, is in this picture. Biscuit went everywhere with us for one whole weekend and then we wrote about it in his class journal. Also of note...I'm 30 weeks pregnant in this picture!

Enjoying the end of summer...
It's been so beautiful here for the last few weeks. It's given us some time to enjoy the outdoors. We've gone on many lovely hikes, like this one in Palmer Park, which is a large open space in central Colorado Springs.
We have also continued to work on the yard. Here is Owen in the new sandbox, which is a HUGE hit!
This is the view from the top of the yard. You can see some grass peaking through the straw where Josh seeded. The bottom area now has a sprinkler system, the beginnings of the lawn, and the new sandbox. Next up...a second retaining wall for the garden portion of the yard.
We also marked the 1 month anniversary of Owen's diabetes. This month has brought us lots and lots of shots (the orange are for insulin, the blue are for testing blood glucose level)...

Hobgood family camping trip - Aug 2010
We went camping with all of the Hobgood siblings and their families in early August. We met up for a couple of days in the Salida area to eat, play, and celebrate Amelia's 3rd birthday. Both of my boys loved Amelia's new tricycle!

Grand Lake - July 2010
We went on a short vacation to Grand Lake, CO in mid-July (it's on the other side of Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes). Grand Lake must be the most wonderful vacation spot in all of Colorado. We were within walking distance of everything in town, including the lake. Owen and Josh had fun fishing off the public dock every evening. They never caught anything, but Owen loved being out late at the lake.
We took several little hikes in the national park, usually visiting streams so Josh and Owen could fish a little and Wyatt could throw rocks.

North Pole - July 2010
In early July, Grammy and Pop (the Belteaus) took us to the North Pole in Colorado Springs. It was so much fun! We're standing by a "north pole" made of actual ice here. For some reason, Owen continues to refer to it as "original ice".
Both boys ADORED these cars that you drive on a little track. I'm pretty sure both of them thought they were really drving.
