Our sweet Owen turned 5 on March 14th. This year, we celebrated in style with a Star Wars party. The fun started with a pin-the-light-saber-on-Yoda game. Josh drew an amazing Yoda and we made light sabers out of cardboard and green butcher paper.
Next up...cupcakes! We made chocolate cupcakes with whipped cream frosting and decorated them with Star Wars cake toppers that Owen and I made. Each little boy was pretty excited to find out which character they were going to have on their cupcake. After the treats, we made a little scavenger hunt for the kids to find their party favor bags. The bags contained a CD of Star Wars theme music and a little glow stick. Then, the kids took their bags out to the garage to collect treats from the Death Star pinata, which was hand-crafted by Josh. Look at Owen's face in the picture below (you can click on it to make it larger)...you can see how completely excited he was!
Finally, we went inside to open presents. Here, Owen is modeling his new Star Wars lunch bag. You can see that he's still flushed from the pinata!
A video of a few birthday highlights: I love how excited all the kids get after Josh reads the clue on the scavenger hunt. We didn't get much in the way of pinata video because my camera's memory was full, but we shared the little that we had. The kids got ALOT more aggressive after Owen's first try (you can probably tell that from the picture of Owen). The opening presents video was on his actual birthday, with just our little family of 5...Owen was pretty excited about his Nerf gun!

I LOVE Owen's face in both of the pinata pictures! The Death Star, Yoda and Cake Toppers look great! It looks like Owen had the perfect birthday for him.
Also, your hair looks really cute both down and in the ponytail.
Wish we could have been there....looks like fun!! Bree - I love your hair!
